I woke up really sad this morning and I'm not one of those people that normally wakes up sad. I'm a glass half-full kind of person. I'm one of the most optimistic people that I know. Sometimes I make myself kind of sick from how optimistic I am. I always seeing the bright side.
This morning when I woke up sad I knew something was really bothering me. Something was really wrong. It's the morning after the presidential election and Donald Trump was elected president. He won over Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton who would be the first female president of United States.
Wow! the first female president.
What it would mean for our country AND what it would mean for our daughters, sisters, and mothers.
We've come so far in this country with women's rights, pro-choice, gay marriage, inclusion, the glass ceiling, families. My wish was a female president to push the female agenda. Women's rights, women's equality. Women on their way to being equal to men.
My desk at home faces the street. Everyday I see a dad walking his 4 kids to school. Two are still too young to go to school so they make the round trip with him. I like to guess at what his wife, their mother does. I conjecture she's a corporate executive supporting her family mentoring the young men and women she manages.
In my neighborhood I see women who go to work every day, women who stay home to raise their kids, women who work from their home office to be there for their family, and women who make the time to be involved in the school board, PTA, and other causes. They are taking control of their lives. They don't see limits to what they can do.
With Donald Trump in the White House what will that mean to women?
That's why I was sad when I woke up this morning.
But as the true optimist, I started thinking about the agenda that I have for Active Souls. I want Active Souls to be a place where women are equal. Women can get support to do what they choose. In order to accomplish great things, women need to be healthy physically, mentally and emotionally. Together we might just save the world.
I have big ambitions.
I don't know what's gonna happen in the next four years. I choose to be happy. I choose to be optimistic. I choose to make Active Souls a place where women dream big and have the physical mental and emotional energy to achieve their dreams.
We'll see where the next four years takes us. Today I am hoping the campaign promises of lower taxes, more jobs, and no crime become a reality and women's rights are not compromised because of this president
